Desert Conflict Mod Update

The team behind the Desert Conflict (http://www.desert-conflict.org/) mod have posted up another new update. This time around they are showing off their S-125 Neva-m: Sa-3 Goa. Take a look:

The S-125 NEVA-M (SA-3 GOA) is a surface-to-air anti-aircraft short-range system designed for destruction of aircraft, cruise missiles, assault helicopters and other air targets at ground, low and medium altitudes.

No skin yet, and it needs some smoothing, but it is in game and working well. We should be able to release the HAWK and the GOA at the same time.

No prob mate, I do that all the time, lol. Were juiced about getting this missile back after all the AA in BF2. Anyone who remembers the TV guided SA3 and Patriot on EL AL, in the wright hands, well it was just a beautiful thing.

Looks too small to me Yea, I struggled with the sizing of this thing. But if you compare it to pictures with people or other scale objects next to it, you will find it is pretty close. Not to mention that the missiles are proportionate to the other objects in game, as well as measuring up pretty close to the actual thing.

No doubt in my mind that DCom had it too big (http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/2341/screenshot2147tj.jpg). If you are familiar with that size, then yes it is too small. But when you look at the many (http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/7889/goasa30019xi.jpg), many (http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/4710/s125423mc.jpg), many photos I referenced to (not to mention the ones Jimbob used when he made it), I think you might get a better perspective for this things size. However it is by no means perfect ;).

I am happy with it, and the skin is 90% done. We also have a lot of other stuff to show. Some with skins, some in game, some just renders. But, we are gonna show, show, show as much as possible. People seem to like to know what is going on.

And some even read a little about the pictures they are looking at before they comment.
However, seems like a few just can't see anything we do without some sort of sideways compliment.... But that is ok, we have pretty thick skin. And a lot of toys to play with.

I would really rather give these folks Dev status on our site, but they are not into it so.......

The SA-2 I am bundling now will be a single shot player guided missile. The code is done (MasterX), and so is 90% of the model.

We did it this way to properly counter our Patriot.

IRAQ:
SA-2: Single fire with player control. 75%
SA-3: Dumbfire with 4 missiles. 95%
ZPU-4: 4 barrel AA gun. 100%USA:
Patriot: Single fire with player control. 75%
HAWK: Dumbfire with 3 missiles. 100%
VADS: Vulcan fixed minigun installation. NA yet.We added a set of skinned pics to the thread.... And the base does still look too small. However I am not gonna mess with it for now as we hope to get more to this state before we tweak any further.
