bf2.exe crash with patch 1.22

i had patch 1.21 installed and i can get the incremental patch from 1.21->1.22 to install and if i install the 3XXmb 1.22 patch i get the splash screen and then i get the "BF2.exe as encountered an error and will now close, whe are sorry for the inconvinence." i have checked a bit in the forum but all are regarding v1.03 and are not solving my problem

yeah I am having problems too. but I started from scratch. Are you downloading 1.21 first then going to 1.22 as your next download? Let me know!

im getting this problem as well with the biggest patch (suppose to have all patches in one)
i also did my pc from scratch

Found Solution to a major BUG, PLEASE READ TO SEE IF THIS AFFECTS YOU


Problem: After a fresh computer start up, BF2 will load fine. After exiting BF2 and proceeding to execute it again, the game EXE will encounter a problem and crash. This is an annoying problem forcing you to reboot your computer if you want to play again.


Solution:

STEPS:

1. While on the desktop eject the BF2 play cd needed to play
2. While the CD is out of the CD rom drive (ejected) click to run BF2, it will ask you to insert the bf2 CD or play. Click OK
3. Now reinsert the bf2 CD
4. Once the auto run start try to play the game again, or close the auto run and use the normal EXE (usually found on your desktop)
5. The game should load fine, works multiple times


I recently found this solution to work for me on this annoying problem. I hope it works for you and many others. If the solution proceeds to work for many, please spread this amongst other forums.

thx phyrlord this did seem to do the trick well at least ounce ill try it later again but i hope i wont have to start it like this all the time it will get pretty annoying.

Manic Depressive i allready had the patch 1.21 installed and as i said trying to install the incremental patch for going from 1.21 to 1.22 wasnt working the patch was telling me that i didnt had the v1.21 installed so i got the full 1.22 patch (3XXmb) and this i was able to patch with but i was getting the bf2.exe crash with it but phyrlord trick seems to work so for now it will do

yes well it did not fix it totally for me it seem to work only like half the time and it becomes a bit annoying as it takes like 6min just to load the game and since i am into mapping its a bit of an overkill

yea this game was very poorly made, too many problems, ill wait till i get my 300gig hdd and hopefully everything will be fine when i install everything

definitly poorly made after all the patch they got out i am totally amazed that they are still ironing out bug like that and whats worse is that they are still working on bug that where obvious to start with

Yep, I've been having this problem even with previous patches. It's really annoying.

I use a CD IMAGE to play BF2 instead of the CD so I hope unloading and reloading the image will work just as well as taking out and putting the CD back in.

i dont no if it will work but either way it sux you shouldnt have to do all this its a bit like having your car dealer tell you start your car without the tire and then put back the tire and restart it
