This is not a sticky, and it is not official. Try again.
Though the only thing i have against YouTube is that it has slight buffering issues, and you can't adjust the volume level. And GoogleVideo destroys PutFile anyday...

YouTube has the bandwidth required to pump out videos to the masses, and with this comes the slight loss of quality. Putfile on the other hand has SEVERELY saturated bandwidth because they host files directly and people can easily hotlink to them (which is a dumb thing to do on their part, they need a better anti-leeching system). This is why I tend to favour Youtube. I would much rather watch a video instantly then have to wait 10 minutes for a download.
While we're on the topic, If anyone out there knows what they're doing in terms of creating quality videos and does need an alternative place to host their material, BF2S will do so in it's files section (files.bf2s.com). We tried public uploading, but it turned in to a mess with the mass amounts of uploads (we aren't trying to become the next file_____.com). Although we appreciate people trying new things and creating their own videos, we do not have the space nor time to host everyones videos - only more professionally developed ones. If you need a no-hassle place to host your [quality] video, shoot up on the BF2S forums (pm Markimus).

youtube loses alot of quality as well, and it still lags like hell. it took me 10 minutes to download a 30 second short film it was ridiculous. i pick putfile for me

This exact paragraph could be reversed... Clicking a link to a video on YouTube results in a 10+ minute wait for it to play... I never have to wait more than 30 seconds on PutFile...
My experience is a total 180 degrees from yours.

Interesting. Never had a problem with youtube here.. putfile just seems to be slow as hell. Even when I manually try to download the wmv file, 20KB/s or so.

My main issue with YouTube, regardless of the buffering issues, or hotlinking issues, or anything else, is that there is NO way to customize volume. You either hear it at maximum volume, or you don't hear it at all. They use a flash player, and adding a volume bar really isn't that difficult...
And PutFile is just SLOW. It takes about 15 minutes of buffer per minute of video time, and it doesn't use a flash player, but just an embedded .wmv. this makes it so Non-Window users have virtually no chance of seeing it, and I'm having issues on Windows viewing PutFile with FireFox. I have to switch to Internet Explorer each time a video is hosted on PutFile.
Personally, I prefer GoogleVideo. Bufering is done well, you can see several screens of the video, which allow you to see it at a glance. Additionally, a clearly visible video description, and an easy-to-use search feature. Oh, and you can adjust your volume, set custom viewing sizes, including 'Original' and 'Full Screen'.

I'm not a big fan of any of them, to be honest. GoogleVideo, YouTube, Putfile ... for me, they each come a distant second to a high quality file that I can simply download, view and retain or delete at my leisure. Picapic.net was good in that you could either stream or download (without having to use the trusty ol' View Page Source method) but I don't think it exists any more.
Of course, those are just my personal preferences. I still watch every single video posted in this forum but when the image quality is extremely low, it can be a bit disappointing (especially when the content is good).
While we're on the topic, If anyone out there knows what they're doing in terms of creating quality videos and does need an alternative place to host their material, BF2S will do so in it's files section (files.bf2s.com).
The BF2S Files section is excellent, Markimus! I had my video added just yesterday and it's already been downloaded 260 times, despite being two and a half months old and having already enjoyed a decent run on the BF2S forums. The BF2S policy of screening videos before hosting strikes me as particularly wise in that it damn-near guarantees anything downloaded from that section will be high quality and well-worth acquiring.
(I hope my future projects will make the grade, too!)

If you have something against youtube i suggest you do NOT get me started on putfile
They banned me becasue i AGREED that one of the moderators stole a trailer and rebranded it as his own (The guy that actually MADE the video got banned as well). Several days later, banned from forum and that topic deleted (as well as my own topics). When i go to customer support and tell them what happen, they simply replied "Go F*ck a melon", of course with no *'s, and then i was banned through the entire putfile.com site ( I later was unbanned after talking to another moderator)
Overall, the community at youtube is alot better than the community at putfile..
I prefer google video and youtube the most.. Google video is fast, but the only thing it lacks is a counter for the # of views the video has. If they put this in, it would be perfect..

..but the only thing it lacks is a counter for the # of views the video has. If they put this in, it would be perfect..If you look closely you'll find it under the Reports tab when you have signed in. They only show the #views for your own uploaded videos though.

Interesting, But the only drawback to that is that the same movie might be posted more than once, and one might have more views than the one you originally posted, but you wouldnt even know how many views if you were trying to collect all the views of one specific video..
