View Full Version : US Intervention Mod Update
Sevigon
04-28-2006, 02:11 AM
The team over at the US: Intervention (http://usi.jarhedz.com) mod have sent us some exciting news. They have entered final beta testing stages, and invitations to certain communities have been sent out to beta test. Sevigon and Jofaba will be repersenting TotalBF2.com when it comes to the beta test.
US Intervention breaks the silence. We are happy to announce that we are entering final beta stage. As this is an important milestone for us, we are keen to organize a fragfest. It's due this weekend and all the invitations have been sent. These are the maps they will be playing on.
<a href="http://www.totalbf2.com/images.php?img=news/images/docks.jpg"><img src="/news/images/thumb_docks.jpg"></a> <a href="http://www.totalbf2.com/images.php?img=news/images/ophog.jpg"><img src="/news/images/thumb_ophog.jpg"></a>
<a href="http://www.totalbf2.com/images.php?img=news/images/streets.jpg"><img src="/news/images/thumb_streets.jpg"></a>
This is very exciting, and this mod looks very promising. We will be letting TotalBF2 know how it turns out, and come back with an full, indepth review on it. Stay tuned!

dont get me wrong, i love this mod and it looks like the best thing that will happen to be the first mod with mostly original skins vehicles and weapons, and i also know how hard it is to code skin texture and all but :
they said this would be out in february, at that time they said it will be coming out really soon, then they announced that it would come out march 12th, it never came out then, then sometime in late march they announced that it would come out in april, they waited the whole month of april and according to this the beta test servers will be this weekend, which is the dates of friday april 28 saturday 29 sunday 30th, so unless they come out with it a day after the beta test this will be the third time they told us it would come out, just like EA GAMES always does.
this is a lesson for other mod teams, though the community might give pressure, dont give release dates unless you are sure that you are near the completion of the phase in the mod you are in.
i just hope this mod turns out great like it looks that it will. I am sure it will exceed my expectations, i just wish they wouldnt give us dates and then decide not to have them.
i have a feeling they wanted to give us the best mod they could give us on the first try so they delayed for a little bit but i have been checking total bf2 and their website really periodically looking for this mod to come out and every time they fail to bring it out
and JUST SO YOU KNOW I AM A HUGE FAN OF THIS MOD

I am sure this will be a really exciting mod. That is more than likely the reason they delayed the release until all is well with the game. I hope that is the reason. If the maps are as good as they look, no more vanilla for me.

We only gave one offical date and that was March 12th, delayed thanks to EA delaying a much needed patch and a few community website/host problems. No one offical said anything about Feb. I do not know where you got that from. Ouch and forshame in comparing us to EA. We really wanted to just make the mod special for players like you. To make up for March. The April release buzz was my fault and to be honest, please don't blame anyone but me for that. I'll make up for that. One last thing, when we say final test phase it means done, know we just have to gift wrap it to you m8.
This is all we are showing!?! this is rediculas, guys I am going to throw something at you in less then a week, something really awesome. I can't tell you what but it'll blow your army regulation boots right off.

If you look at the hud minimap you can see that none of our maps are copying DC at all. The names are similiar, yes, but that is because they are names of real locations. USI is by no means trying to replicate DC, that is what you guys are for :) . Hope this clears it up.

This looks mind-blowing. I just hope you guys won't delay it until Patch 1.3 - just kiddin' ;)
I really hoped that it was gonna come out at the begging of current week - it's my vacation - but oh well. I'm still happy. :)
SySex - I don't remember Operation Hogsmoke from DC. Hehe, don't quote me, I don't wanna get involved in this.
Just a suggestion for the future, never and I mean NEVER mention Desert Combat in US:I's News Updates

I was not trying to sound rude man. Just letting everyone know that USI isn't trying to steal DC's maps. That comment was only triggered because you said something first, I would have said it to anyone as I knew someone would have been confused with the whole similiar names thing. No hard feelings :)

hahaha maybe you should read better haha - he NEVER said copy and he certainly didnt say "steal". He didnt even say from Desert Combat - he said "desert combat days" referring to a time we all know of ;) ...
SySex has never had anything to say but good things about your mod - so cut him some slack huh? I understood what he said - making reference to the old DC maps was a good idea. helps give a sense of familiarity to the maps of a new mod... it was a compliment - nothing else.
great work guys - looking forward to seeing how this pans out.

Lol, there is no reference too old DC maps. That's what I explained. The names are named that way because they are real battlefields/locations .

04-28-2006, 06:18 AM
I could see the maps are different but surely more original names could have been thought of. You must have been completely aware of how those names would look when creating them.

Well Im looking forward to playing it. I used to love to play the Docks, Loved the wide open armor fest that was Dustbowl, and Urban Seige was always at the top as well.
They are obviously not the same maps, but I think striking that kind of chord with people is a good thing, not a bad one.

Never really played Desert combat, But I don't care I was an EOD person and a reality mod person myself. I was happy with those. I really didn't want to go beyond WW2 at the time.
All I know is I saw some of the reference images before the maps were in production and a lot of the reference images can be found in the maps now. It's pretty awesome.
My Surprise will pwn you all ...

Exactly, that's like saying - "Smart move making the A-10 from Desert Combat days" - as if A-10 only exists in DC.
Well, I understand that he tried to complement the team, but it sounded more like sarcasm to me.
I know the mods are based on the same conflict, but I don't think US:I should be discussed as a "remake" of DC.

exactly - if some people are having trouble understanding this i suggest taking a deep breath and stop trying to misconstrue his words. i'm mean, geez, talk about taking a false assumption and running with it... If you dont want anyone to think that these names are referenced/inspired from DC i suggest changing them... as if it really matters

Your missing the point. It was that feel you get. Everyone got it, when they read his post it sounded as if he was trying to say something negative about how USI are handling things.
Dropping it would be the best choice as you said but, what people are saying is that they feel the guy made a negative post towards USI, regardless of what else was said. They cleared it up and if anyone knows anything these are indeed real maps. I am sure desert conflict and USI will both be fun mods.

I wouldn't say this is so much of a beta test...............as I would say a get togather.
I wanted to do this for a few reasons. There are some folks that have been outstanding in helping USI along the way, some people we admire, and just friends of USI,that we thought they would enjoy joining us in a non BF2 game, befrore anyone else is able to get their hands on it.
We have invited alot of people from other mods,as well as fan sites, and news folks, that have played a role in making this possible for us.We will not be waiting for the 1.3 patch to be released. It has come under discussion, and has been decided that we will patch if we have to after the release, as we have some content we would like to add anywayz.
Thanx for all your support and I look forward to seeing you all shooting at me on a USI server..........cuz i suxor at fps videogames =]

Now Get It Out Here God Damn It :D
Bashrah Streets look very impressive, but you might want to add the fixed spawn further back, and then another a bit closer!
If you move the fixed spawn back, it will increase the players experience playing the map, crossing such an open field is really fun (I love dodging snipers.. or at least trying to :D)

You should not try to deliberately mislead people into thinking that our maps are in relate to Desert Combat because they are not.
Our maps are very original, we don't have any maps that looks or plays as Desert Combat, i belive DCon are doing everything like Desert Combat but USI is a very original Gulf War mod!

"You are also correct to "belive" that USI is an original work of art, and DCON is just a copy of Desert Combat, lol."
Thats a bit extreme don't you think? I was only saying that if you like to play Desert Combat over and over again then USI isnt the mod for that purpose. You over at DCon have stated that you're going to bring Desert Combat to Battlefield 2, at least thats what ive heard and doing that is not very original is it?

It always kills me when people bring up the age factor on the internet, only to turn around and show how immature they are...

Would USI and DCON ever contemplate or did they ever contemplate a merger.
Maybe it would have been better to get the talent together and create a super mod as the what they are making is set in the same era and seems they are the same gamewise.

NO WAY MAN... besides they are both too far along in development, and I want to play both of them :D

Same era, different goals. ;)
Personally I'd rather have 2 for variety's sake. If I want something different, I'll just go play the other for the time being. USI is fun in its ways and has its unique traits, and I'm sure the same can be said about DCon. One thing I've noticed though, is that the more mods there are, the more competition there will be -- Everyone will keep trying to out do the other, resulting in higher quality work all around.

I think there is an insane number of modern warfare mods for BF2. For BF42 there were just 3 major WW2 mods (BG, XWW2 and FH), two more were created years later (Warfront and Sharpest Point), plus some nation based ones like Finn Wars or Norwegian Resistence.
For BF2 starts to be imposible to keep track of all the modern warfare mods under development, I think some merges would be the logic move for the survival of most of those mods.
Just an example, two Somalia mods for BF42 were anounced (Black Hawk Down and Conflict in Somalia), they did hold a very funny (for public) but useless stupid flame war, 3 years later they merged as last chance, but the merged team released so late that nobody was interested in play it in the old BF42 engine and the mod died

True enough, Lobo, but the USI team will be the first to release a major TC for Battlefield 2. It would seem to make more sense to me for the various WWII mods, yours included, to merge or at least content-share. As long as the original creator of the model/skin is credited, why not? Why not create an independent development server to archive created content to be used in your mod and other's?
I don't count Nations at War and Codename: Eagle as genuine "main-stream" TC's, with Nations at War being apparently created solely for a tournament and Codename: Eagle a remake of an ancient predecessor to the BF series.
