OK i am trying to record my game play and i have looked high and low but i cant get a straight answer!!

I know that i need to go in the console menu and type "demo.recorddemo whatevername" minus the " " of course and whatevername being the name of the file.

wehn i try type that in i get a thing saying somthing like "cant do it in client mode" or some crap!!

i know there is something i am missing or doing wrong or maybe it cant be done... i am in a battle record server or what ever it is..

can someone clear this up for me please..
and i have looked at other threads but did find the info that helped

You cant record on a server already running the recorder, it should save them to the community section on the main BF2 menu, or ask them were do the files upload to

You can create your own demo files from single player games.

1. During single player gameplay, acivate the demo recoder by typing in the console "demo.recorddemo [name of the file here]" Dont put in the [] ;). Console will then say something like "recording started".

2. Stop the recording by typing in the console "demo.stoprecording".

3. The demo files are created and stored in this path C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\Demos

4. To be able to play these back inside BF2 you need to move the files from the above folder to this path C:\Documents and Settings\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\Default\demos. If that folder does not exist create it.

5. To remove the HUD for taking screen shots, console command is renderer.drawhud 0 & renderer.drawhud 1 to put it back on.

if the server has battlerecorder running already, then all you need to do is go to the main menu of BF2, click the "Community" tab, then there will be two tabs under that, a "battlerecorder" tab, and a "custom game" tab, go to "community" and find the file from the server you just played on, check the server name, date all that good stuff, and press download. I dont know what to do after that, it depends on where you download the stuff to.
