The team behind the Desert Conflict (http://www.desert-conflict.org/) mod have posted up some very exciting news, a new teaser trailer. Here's what they had to say:

There is some confusion that is small here, but its still important. We are picking up where Desert Combat left off. We would love to be able to capture some of the feeling of Playing Desert Combat, while making it our own at the same time.

Well do our best, and we appreciate the support, just like all the other hard working MOD teams.:cool:

When a mod releases a video, all the *** kissers come out of the closet.
I do not understand what all the excitement for this Mod is, it started off as a mod that was billed as a version of Desert Conflict for BF2, then changed that to Desert Conflict, but hasn't done a very good job of distancing itself from BF2, or DC.
Most of the models and even skins seen in this video are from BF2, and the A10, although decent, has bombs that are scaled incorrectly. Not to mention, the video itself has encoding problems, and appears to play at 2x speed.
Also, refrain from using a shakey cam effect in your future mods, the scan lines really do affect the quality of the image.
Good Luck, but I hope this doesn't reflect the quality of this anticipated mod.

No reason to insult the members here. You just created your little persona "Doctor Venture" a couple of hours ago, and this is your first post. SO your opinion isnt really weighted in much. Im sure it was out of fear of showing your real name, the one you normally load into the forums with.

Any one else getting the video playing at 2X and with no sound?

Perhaps its just a codec thing.. I will attempt trying it again this time with a new DIVX driver for WMP 10.

I had the no audio problem in the beginning, what I did as a quick fix was let it play for about 10 seconds then you use your mouse and click to the first second and the audio pops itself back in. So you need to press play then click anywhere on the timeline in windows and the audio starts back up.

Yup, I had the sound problem too! Unforunately I thought it was supposed to be like that, so I actually watched it through, without sound, which really really brought the overall impression of it down.

What you do is let it play for a few seconds, then click ahead somewhere in the movie, then click back to the beginning, and sound will play.

Without sound, a movie really is nothing.

Ok now I saw it with sound.. Media Player is better for me than Divx player .. since Windows Media Palyer has the WOW effects etc.. and with the XFi creative card made it sound even more awesome..

However I was never much of a DC mod player.. too many smacky's just like today in regular BF2.. I was more of a FH, Galactic Conquest, Eve of Destruction etc.. mod player.

But forgive me. this video yet kinda cool looking, the music is the best part.. got me more in the mood to go watch Planet of the Apes movies.:cry:

The production was good and it would have made a great BF2 film but the point in mod released films is typically to showcase the mod's additions to the game. The Dcon team didn't really do that here.I'm not trying to start anything here, just a little constructive criticism.

from what i've seen, they're doing the a-10 justice, and i'll be testing it before it comes out :p, um, i downloaded, and didnt get sound....but still, this is going to bring back memories, GOOD TIMES :D

I don't mean to sound overly critical, but... New content > Good video editing. PoE's videos have good editing (not as fancy as on this one) but what really sets them apart from others is that almost all of what you seen in them is new.

Not being able to spend their lives on this mod is irrelevant.

The thing is: Your fans are salivating over stock BF2 content.

There does seem to be alot of vanilla stuff on the video.
Custom stuff = A 10, Apache 3 custom jeeps... anything else??
Also the map looks like its taking place on the outskirts of mashtuur, or is it EL AL?
Are those tanks moving faster than vanilla?
Real modern tanks are able to drive about up to 80 km/h (dont know it in mph =P), so if DCon's going to be more realistic than BF2 I think, yes, ;)

If I remember correctly, the M1A2 is officailly rated at 45mph. But this is probably irrelevant, seeing the offical ratings are somewhat worthless, seeing the LAV has around the same rating. A few guys I met at Cherry Point MCAS said they had gotten their LAVs up to 80mph on a highway :p

I am quite aware of divx encoding, and what it does, and how it works. Alot of your overenthused fans had issues with watching your video. Here is a hint, next time you use a custom codec, notify the public or post a link for it.
And IMHO, your mod is far from finished.
I am not going to bash DcON, I just posted my opinion. However with a few other mods about to release, its going to be interesting how far and balanced the playing fields will be.
Ahh Ding.. Just finished downloading the PoE Teaser..
Now to go review thier movie, I hope its worth it considering the size and format.

Haha, ok. Sure thing "Doctor Venture" the teaser video would have been different if you had done it. You have lots of opinions, and I dont mind criticism at all. Im thick skinned, and dont really care. The only resaon I responded was the obvious direction you are comming from, you didnt just show up here, well maybe as This Doctor persona.

I feel we have shown enough new content in the last month to warrant a video with some BF2 stuff in it. Not to mention that we did it for us to watch internally, and GAV decided to release it. Sorry if it was not up to your standards.

Expect new news from us daily for a long time to come. We are really hitting our stride and it is getting easier and easier to do this whole thing. Only thing we are having a hard time with is deciding how to stage our releases.

I hope other mod teams are doing as well as USI and DCon have been. Should be good times for all if we can just get these mods we are all making off the ground.

I don't mind the haters, just makes me want to go do some more modding. I am also proud as hell that we have sooo many testers who are all awsome at what they do. They know the truth about the mod, and I only need to know that they are happy. A bunch of strangers on Total don't really hold too much weight with us anyhow.
