Conflict Canada Mod Update

The team behind the Conflict Canada (http://canadianforces.aowc.net/main.asp) mod are back today with their latest update. They are showing off a lot of new media. Have a look:

Hey Battlefield 2 fans and community! This is CDNCommando co-leader of the Conflict Canada Mod. We return this week with update number 2. We can't wait to show you all the goodies we have this week. So without further delay our mod team would like to show you all we have done to date.

First up is a map by our very own Shady. This map is called Blizzard and has a winter theme. He has been working very hard and has numerous maps on the go right now. This map will feature a large amount of trees and snowy rolling hills. This map will come with our first release.

The first model we have to show is the mainstay of the Canadian Armed Forces. It features a 3.4x ELCAN Scope and an extendable stock. This gun is called the C7A2 and is a very nice piece of hardware. This model generously donated by Shawn and tweaked by Matte and Sarge. The skin was done by H2yo.

It's actually a fade between American and Canadian. From what I undertand, it's a USA/Canada conflict.

Thanks for the complients everyone. You are right the trees need a reskin. The Canadian and American flag fade into each other because they are working together to defeat the insurgents. There is no USA vs Canada conflict in our mod.

Dont care what these people say, this is a sweet looking mod. As long as you have the Lepoard C2 MBT, Coyote APC, CF-18 or CF-35 (yes were ordering some) or maybe the Avro Arrow;), the CH-148 Cyclone transport helicopter, the ADATS, C7, C8 and C9 Ill be HAPPY!!:D

Sadly, A couple Canadian soldiers from my school at a career fair said that Canada is getting rid of all our tanks becuase they aren't good to get around in the type of fighting we are doing in Afghanistan. but they did say they are upgrading some of our LAVIII's and other APC vehicles with tank turrets.

Spoken like a true ignorant.

I like the idea of having Canada in a mod. I'm glad to see an inclination to provide the community with more than the typical US vs. everyone else mods. I mean, the US has a nice armed forces, but each country can defend their own.

Not one country, however, can avoid and defend properly against tactical aerial combat, so to say one army is better than another is redundant because it is rare to see ground pounding battles that decide the fate of an area. The USA proved this in Afghanistan: Can't find the fooker, so carpet bomb everything and leave when you can't find who you are looking for.

Well, we're still there in hopes of helping them reform their country after a savage insurgent attack by a world dominance...but in the end, the thread is in regards to a mod and not military or politics. I just get defensive when people try bringing Canada down, when they should be so lucky to live here.

if canada sucks why did the avro arrow have better performance than any other jet made except for the new jsf fighters (f-22, f-35, eurofighter). with the iriqous (sp?) engine it was more powerfull, faster, manuverable than anything out there even today and that was in the 60's

also the avreo Arrow that i know of was the VERY first fly by wire airplaine at the speeds of 2.0 mock. witch was the fast jet in the world at that time the 50's 60's i think (not sure) and i beleave the Canaidan goverment cansled the operation cuz of cost of money and the crashes it suffered

Well here is why they really canceled it.

The americain prick at the time said if you build those aircraft instead of buying our missiles, there will be consequences, and that is why their is no more program.

Looking good guys. I hope you get all the specs/models right on the guns. They look similar to americans weapons but have key differences. Like M16 vs Diemaco C7. Stuff like c7 is a m16 but with an optical sight and Fullauto/semi mode. Instead of the m16s 3rndburst/semi mode. Just stuff like that. But im sure you will get all this stuff in. Give a nice weapon section on your website.

Ohhh and ad some of thoes g-wagons. My cousin was installing the remote/video controlled turrents on thoes jeeps in Kandahar. Sent some pics back if you would like to reference them. Very cool.

It was cancelled because of "political" reasons/conflicts, between the us and canada. Most of the people who developed it, when laid off, were hired by NASA and went south. So... canadians helped send the first americans too the moon.

umm dude you know that after the jet was completed they government only scraped it to buy a missle defence system

and your own government tried to get them the only reason they couldn't was the government was so emberassed that every country that heard of it (yours included) wanted it prime minister defenbaker had it destroyed

those are the facts and it's top recorded speed was mach 1.9 at 3/4 throttle at 50000 ft in a verticle climb

So I actually clicked the link you gave us, partner.
I looked on the Leopard page to see about the tank and whether the Gov't was plannin to scrap it or not.
At the bottom of the page, it says:

"The entire CF Leopard fleet is to be mothballed.[2] "
The subscript [2] refers to this comment:
"[2] In part, this decision is the fall-out from DND’s inability to present a case for the operational necessity of a CF main battle tank. Citing the absense of any clear MBT requirement, the 1998 Auditor-General’s Report (http://www.oag-bvg.gc.ca/domino/reports.nsf/html/9003pe03.html) observed that DND policies and rationales are often arrived at after key procurement decisions have been made. The ‘Leopard Thermal Sight’ Project was singled out as a prime example by the A-G."


This article refers to a 1998/99 decision. It is now at least seven years later. I hope we still got 'em. You may want to read your evidence, though, before you present it, cause this article clearly states that indeed, we are looking to scrap the Leopards. I do not know what a clear MBT requirement is, but that is the reason, and dumb-**** politicians (with which we are just as plagued as our American bretheren).
