excuse my ignorance if this has been posted before, I bought a new serial number from ebay as my current serial number is banned from several servers, and I don't know how to enter it. is there a way I can enter my new serial number without having to uninstall and reinstall the game?

Thank you

I think the only way is to reinstall the game. It shouldn't be that big of a deal. I didn't know that your SN can get banned, I thought it's your nick. Excuse me for asking but why did you get banned?

No, they have CD bans now if your really bad, and you will have to reinstall the game as far as I know, but I'm sure Salad will come in here and tell you to put it in a folder somewhere ;)

hmm, I changed my account name and I still get the same message. the reason I got banned is because some admin kicked me out for using inappropriate language. I wasn't aware of that since I go nuts if I was under a tense battle.

My man Salad, where are you

You can run Battlefield 2_code.exe from the support dir where you installed BF2 to.

Then run BF2CDKeyCheck.exe to encrypt the key in registry. (it just opens for a brief second and then closes)
ftp://ftp.ea-europe.com/UK_Support/EAGAMES/Battlefield_2/BF2CDKeyCheck.exe

You can look in registry setting (Default) to see the effects, at this path:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\EA Games\Battlefield 2\ERGC]

(Default) is name in English version of Windows, might differ if you have localized version Windows. You access registry via regedit.exe

Look before you run Battlefield 2_code.exe, which enters the CD-key for you in registry, and then refresh after running BF2CDKeyCheck.exe, to see it in encrypted form.

Alternatively you can find this exe file, included in patches, so it will be in TEMP folder, but only while patch is open.
So startup patch, e.g. 1.3 and let it extract itself to TEMP folder, then type %TEMP% in Run Menu or open Window, and search for BF2CDKeyCheck.exe in one of the subfolders there.

If this still fails try adding x9392 infront of CD-Key in registry. This should make it use the CD-key, in plain text, instead of the encrypted version.

Make sure to type CD-key in capital letters. More info in here:
