I'm getting really bad performance, with everything on low, all dynamic stuff off and 800x600 res, I get an FPS of under 20. I've tryed different graphics card drivers (Radeon X800 pro 256mb 256bit) but none of that helped, I've tryed older versions of BF2 and I've even upgraded to 1.75gb ram but no difference. I have a 2.0ghz processor and a 150gb hard drive which is only 70% used (approximately, just formatted and hardly installed anything).

My friend can play with all low->Medium graphics with a stable FPS and he's got a radeon 9200 256mb, 1.7ghz processor and 1gb ram.

Somebody please help me, this is ****ING ME OFF...

you should be able to play on high with those specs, have you tryed deleting you cache, My documents\battlefield 2\mods\cache will be folders labled something like {8df3hsdfhl4678} delete them

could be the latest patch causing some problems, like the many others on these forums, browse some of the other topics for some help

It's not the new patch, I'm running 1.22 now because I got fed up with all the crashes on 1.3. I've tryed defragging my hard drive and just deleted the cache folders. I'll give it a go now, I'll report back soon

i have a similar spec but with 1gb of ram and able to play on high settings. The only problem i'm having with the x800 at the moment is blocky shadows. You might also want to check to see if you have AA or AF enabled which could sap your frame rates..

No AA is not on, I made a video of my performance, the settings are on all medium except textures on high and the resolution is on 800x600 at 75Hz refresh rate, I've tryed 70 and 60Hz too. By the way, I didn't press the sprint button once, the gun going into the sprint position all the time is part of the crap performance. Also, the FPS didn't go over 20, even when not recording!

That's odd...I have an AMD 64 3500+, 2Gb RAM and X800 Xl and don't have any problems running on high 4x AA 16x AF, sometimes my game will stutter but it's usually fine at a stable 40FPS.

The X800 XL is substantially better than the pro, in many cases. It has an advantage of about 15-20 fps over the Pro, so that's probably why you get good performance, plus the much better processor

This is really ****ing me off, I got better performance with everything on low/off with 800x600 res, with my old 128mb 9600! That was with the same hardware as what's there now. I've also tryed re-formatting my PC and installing the latest drivers for everything, fresh and correctly. And still the same problems

Alright, I decided to look up some new motherboards and processors. Here's what I found, firstly is this a good motherboard? Remember I'm on a tight budget not really wanting to spend over £150. http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/96986/rb/19687200911

Next, is this a good processor? http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/96624/rb/19687260288

Also, would these both be compatible, not only with each other but also with my pc3200 ram (I might possibly have some 2700 in there aswell) and my X800 pro AGP graphics card?

Somebody please help me!

Please.. I need answers, this is really REALLY anoing

Why have I deleted my cache? What was it and what was it for?

bf2 is know for this, badly coded, good setups get bad performance. No idea mate, updated everything? drivers, sound drivers, motherboard drivers etc etc? vertical synch is turned off? nothing is overheated?

Please dont buy new stuff, probably wont fix it, you should be able to play more than well with that setup you have now.

hm, mysterious, hope you manage to solve it
