Crash to Desktop...!

Hi there!

I know there are alot of these "crash to desktop" threads, but I haven't found people with the excact same problem as me...
Basicly, when I join a server, sometimes it lets me play for like one mintues/two minutes, and sometimes it just goes to desktop right after clicking "Join Game". When it lets me play abit suddenly all icons and everything dissapear and it crashes to a black screen and nothing happens.
What I notice is that my CPU and RAM stay at 100% all the time I play (is this normal?)...

My specs are:
AMD Athlon 64 3000+
RAM: 1GB
ASUS K8V-X SE
HiS Radeon X1600Pro 256MB Ice Q

Note: When I play single player, this Never happens!

I've just recently changed my graphics card, and it was after that I began having problems. I've also had some issues with my sound, and my microphone doesn't work :)...

I'm using Fraps and Norton AntiVirus & Ghost & Systemworks.
Before my graphics card change I has a Nvidia GeForce FX 5500 256MB, 1.3 ran good, but on very low settings. Note: I never tried it in multiplayer...


Anyways, what do you guys think? What can be the problem?

Are you sure? Coz I can at least start BF2 and play Single player normal, that's not many that can...

Exactly, all is well until you join a server. It's the server, not you.

Wow! Is it the server?! But what problem excactly does the server have? Most of the servers I try to join are filled up (with people who obviously don't have the same problem...).

What vid card do you have now? I was reading the other night that some people with 6800's were having issues with 100% CPU usage all the time. If you are experiencing 100% usage while BF2 is running, then it sounds normal.

This has just happened to me. I click join game and it completely crashes to desktop.

I don't know what to do but its only happened once now. Its happened to a clan mate as well. Is this because the server is having problems or is it a bug with 1.3 ?

I haven't had any problems with 1.3 until after I installed Armoured Fury, now it just crashes to the desktop after it is done loading a map. I've only been a ble to play a few games but basically I payed $10 to have BF2 crash.

I've tried updating new drivers and reinstalling BF2 with the new patch and nothing seems to work.

crash is prob the memory leak issue back i believe :(
the servers is a diff issue,there is no way a faulty sever could crash a stand alone program???unless it may be adding to the memory leak?
this was a issue when first released BF2

P.s i get this also with 2 gig :(

I think your right I just now noticed the error (the message is only visible if I ctrl alt del), but its causing other programs to crash too, 2GB is plenty enough to run BF2 without incident so I don't whats wrong.

Oh yea I am also seeing some wierd graphic anomalies like huge verticle lines when I am able to play as mentioned in other posts.

Tried this same server 3 times and did the same thing. Tried another one , got on in 2 minutes the very first time i tried. Played on it for 2 hours and had a wonderful time.

I think it must mainly be because of the server you try to get on.

Hmm... I've tried on numerous different servers from different countries, Russia, Sweden, USA, Germany, etc. And none of them works...
Ah well, I'm going on vacation now anyways, so I'll just have to hope Dice (and EA :)) comes up with something :(...

EDIT/ I can also say that when the game crashes after some minutes in play, it doesn't crash to desktop, it crashes to a black screen and NOTHING responds!

I got this problem today after I changed my resolution. Can it be something to to with punk buster?

uh ok everybody is having the same god d*** problem is there some BF2 almighty wise one who knows how to fix it
