View Full Version : Freezes Within 5 Seconds In-Game!

Everytime I load a map, it freezes within like 5 seconds and and can't get to the task manager or exit out of BF2 and I have to restart. Any idea what is causing this problem?

AMD Athlon XP 2100+
ATI Radeon 9600XT 128MB
1.5 GB PC3200 RAM

I have noticed on some servers a connection problem window coming up right as the round ends, happens to everyone at the same time, but it says connection problem and then shows the final score. My team seems to not have the problem you have though and are able to continue. But I guess it is related to that.

Is that CPU up to spec? Your whole system is a bit on the slow side, which could be part of the problem.

I used to play it fine on medium on my specs but i had to format my cpu, and so i reinstalled everything. Also, I am running on the OmegaDrivers Cat 6.3. Also, it does the same thing when playing singleplayer but i can play for like 30 seconds more without it happening so I'm guessing it has to do something other than BF2.

People used to have this sort of problem when PB would get updated.

Try updating punkbuster manually.

i did. i downloaded the pb setup exe from the official site and downloaded it to the pb directory in the BF2 folder. I ran it and updated and it said all updates have been applied. Am I doing something wrong?

Anyone?

I got the same kind of lock up recently. I don't know what's wrong.

Yea, I think it's patch 1.3. I get lockups at the start and some KTD. It's not all the time so I can live with it for now. Never happened until 1.3

Well for me it is all the time. There are very few times after 1.3 when I've even managed to quit playing before some sort of crash or bug that made the game unplayable. Congrats for the nice patch. Dice/EA ftw!

I have to chime in here.
I am locking up also, but only since 1.3
Happens at the very start of the round, right after the last screen before you start.

If i enable VPU recover, i can still play but it does the black screen thing like every 5 seconds.

anyone have this problem also?
