Is there any way to set up battle recorder for single player, or if you create a local or coop?? I know there is a lot of threads for BR, ive read a lot but I still dont know too much about it. It seems like whenever I join a server that has it it never downloads. I got it to DL a long time ago a couple of times and it was fun. Im looking at getting fraps now but I like being able to move the camera wherever you want.

That sucks. Do you know of any server that has working B.R. that you have recently downloaded from.

When in single player, open the console (~) and type demo.recordDemo [demoname] to start recording current gameplay and save the file as [demoname].bf2demo; and demo.stopRecording to stop the recording of the demo.

Do you have to be in single player or can you be in a local server..?

As long as you are the host, the commands will work.

Before using the commands that SaladFork mentioned, it's also well-worth ramping up the quality of the demos you're recording.
By default, you'll be recording at a quality setting of 1 but that means the bf2demo will be comprised of fewer engine events and the movements of vehicles, etc. will be somewhat jerky (it's particularly noticeable with jet contrails).
To increase the single-player demo quality, all you have to do is open the console (~) and type: sv.DemoQuality 10 (or whatever number between 1 and 10 you desire; 10 being the highest quality, 1 being the lowest).
If you want to see the difference it makes, record one demo at a quality level of '1' and then record another demo at '10'. During playback, watch each of the demos at the '5%' speed setting and observe some of the vehicles as they travel around the map; there's a very distinct difference in the smoothness of their movement.

It's possible to host a dedicated server and play on the same PC.

I was able to host up to 4 people and myself without having it lag..
Use a program called hamachi.. at www.hamachi.cc
This program will allow you to to do a lan over the internet (very helpful in variou s games). That is the easiest solution to hosting a game, as theres almost no configuration that needs to be setup manually.

I had a total of 9 players and running vent with no lag until everyone goes nuts with c4ing everyone in the air while I talk.
Typically pings are around 120 with 8 players.
My upload speed is 500Kbps.
Dual core proc probably helps too.
