Please help clueless n00b :( !

Hi, i'm new here, i registered hoping to get help from you guys...you're my only chance :cry:

I hope you won't kill me for asking that old question, i searched trough forum but i didn't find any similar problem that i have.:(

Well here's the story. I first played BF2 (last winter) with Radeon 9200 in my comp. I was playing on "private" servers, then few days ago i bought original game because i really enjoy it.

I also bought Radeon 9600XT 256 MB RAM on it and formated my computer.
Then i installed BF2 and full patch 1.3 version. I had latest Omega drivers and everything necessary.

Ok let's get to the problem:
First thing-when BF almost loaded a map, moment before Join Game button should appear it turned blackscreen for 1-2 seconds, than rebooted my computer :cry: Then i set in system properties>advanced>startup and recovery> i unchecked auto reboot. Ok it partially fixed the problem, well it didn't reboot my comp when map was loaded. Just crashed me to desktop.

I set SMARTGART SETTINGS (AGP speed) off (it was set on 8x) but nothing was different. I read about refresh rate of desktop and in-game refresh rate.
Here we go-> i set my desktop refresh rate to 60 and also in game is set to 60.! Map loads without problems, i press join game, then there are to ways i'm loosing my nerve:cry:

Sometimes it just shows screen where you select weapons just for a second then it crashes to desktop again.

Sometimes i can "play" for about 10 seconds:hmm: then it reporst problem with my connection.

WTF is wrong now :cry:

I have 1.3 patch
AMD Athlon 1800XP+
768 MB RAM
RADEON 9600 XT (256MB)
Windows xp pro with SP2 installed (i also read about net framework and tried but nothing helps) :cry:

Please guys i don't know what else to do :cry: :cry:

EDIT: I have currently Catalyst version 5.1, i downgraded hoping that problem is with my last Omega drivers but nothing helped

Wow, I have no idea. You don't seem new to computer though ;). Make sure you have enough power for your video card. You should have atleast 300watts to be safe ;).

Thaks for responding. I have 350W, but i think it's not the problem here,because i played GRAW and Hitman BM, none caused any problems :S

I'll try discconnecting my dvdrom and play with miniimage.

The connection thing is a known problem for BF2, as is crashing to desktop, both have happened to me.

What I would possibly suggest is downgrading BF2 v1.3 to 1.2. Try that.

Also does Singleplayer load correctly?

I see you are bunch of nice guys here, tnx for help. I'm willing to format my computer again (4th time in a week..f**k) if it would work then.
Ok i'll reinstal BF and patch to 1.22 or what do you suggest?
SP loaded map ok, i didn't entered game, i had to go to work. Then i tired MP and it CTD :( :( :( damn :(
