View Full Version : How to fix the Unfixable, Emulation error
Hi all,
I always recieve the "CD/Dvd Emulation software detected etc..." error and am unable to launch the game, I had a copy of Alcohol 120% on my laptop but i uninstalled it and made sure all traces of it were gone, still, the problem persists and i cant get it to launch,
i have considered that maybe my cd drive wont work it however this seems unlikely, i have a dvd +/- RW drive on a Dell Inspiron 6400 dual core notebook,
i have tried everything i know to fix this problem, it seems unfixable...
Any ideas would be appreciated...
Thanks,

Huh? I have alcohol 120% and DAEMEON on my computer, and use DAEMEON on my PC, and they are fine.
Methinks you have some sort of illegal (???) one or something...
no, its all completely legal, i just went out a bought it like a few hours ago and been trying ever since,
thinking that i have something illegal is not helping lol
it might be interesting to note that the same problem happened to rome total war which i also legally installed earlier, if theres some sort of program emulating something that i cant find any suggestions to finding it?

What are you using alcohol 120% for? Did you create an image of your own disc and are using that, or did you download an image and mounting it in Alcohol 120%?
The Best way IMO is to use DAEMEON to mount a mini-image downloaded off the internet.

Have you had any other CD-related software installed (e.g. Nero)? Many of these now include emulation components and might be considered "emulation software". I've been using Daemon Tools for years and BF2 has no problem with it (at least if you change the default driver name in v3.47; haven't tried 4.x yet).

Guys, he's playing off the CD, he's getting the emulation error.
Try to un install bf2 completely. Then re install.
Make sure all imaging tools are un installed also.

The Nero suggestion is a good one, i had the same issue and nero was the cuplrit.
ive tried doing a re-install, i got rid of a nero made software found on my computer, still no luck,
(at least if you change the default driver name in v3.47; haven't tried 4.x yet).
how do you change that?
its strange, because if i take my bf2 cd out of the drive and try to run it, it says, 'insert the cd', then only after i put it in does it tell me ive got emulation stuff enabled somewhere,
can someone rule out my cd drive as the problem?
---------------UPDATE--------------------
OK, so i tried daemon tools 4.0 with a program called sd4hide.exe and it got past the loading screen successfully, then the screen went dark ready to load, and then it just auto-exited the game, this is getting ridiculous, one thing after another!?!? why doesnt it just work like it should
-------------------UPDATE-----------------
After a hard disk format the cd works fine to recognise but the game will not load, apparently it does not support my computers graphics hardware (which was created after the game) im running a GMA 950 on a 945 intel chipset which comes standard with the Inspiron 6400. Benchmarks show, although the card is for all intensive purposes considered inbuilt graphics, it is capable of running the game, the software wont allow it.
As for what caused the error in the first place, who knows, i guess no BF2 for me then,
Thanks for all the help,
