Hi everyone.......

Been walking around with a problem for a while now..... 8 out of 10 times when I connect to a ranked server (during the loading screen) all of a sudden the sound quits, and the system freezes. My mouse can still move around, but I have to use the reset button to get out of it.

I already updated my video drivers (ati 9800 pro) and my audio drivers (onboard c-tech).

Anyone have a clue? It's driving me nuts!!!!!!

With dxdiag I already put my sound acceleration to low. and in the game to software and low.......

Thanks in advance!!!

Firstly, post in the support forum.

Shouldnt you have your sound acceleration set to high so you can process as many sounds as possible?

Do you still crash when you switch the menu music off?

Finally, have you considered buying a dedicated sound card? as onboard soundcards are pants ;) and is surely the cause of your problem.

Do you have ARMORED FURY? I never had any problems with the 1.3 patch, but when I purchased and installed AF, I had your exact situation happen. I either had to CTRL-ALT-DEL to kill the process BF2.exe, or I had to physically power down my machine. It is very random and happens about once a day on different servers. I went back to playing Vanilla BF2 and haven't had the problem....so I hope that EA or DICE can fix it with the 1.31 hotfix.

I have a P4 3.4Ghz, 2.5GB RAM, GeForce 6800GT, Sound Blaster Audigy 2, and 300GB Sata Hard Drive.
