Cannot make online account!

Ok, here is the story...
I finaly got BF2 about 2 days ago, as i have finished exams and have nothing to do! I installed ect it went ok ect... went to make an online account and it says 'server has refused connection' i then updated that game to V1.3 same thing happens, i have zone alarm so i disabled that, same thing happens... its kinda annoying me now (bots are boring already) Can any of you guys help?!

Hmmmm, the online service sounds poor, and btw, im new to this and seeing loadsa **** about 'punk buster' do i need this? and what is it?

You need it to play in ranked rooms, punkbuster stops, well punks from cheating.

could this problem be because i have a router and not a direct link to the net, or is it just being a basturd?
