I haven't been able to play BF2 yet because of my system specs.
AthlonXP 2400+
768MB DDR
Radeon 9600 Pro
I want to be able to run this game on medium/high settings with AA on because without, it looks fugly IMO. I have about $350/£150 to spend on only 1 component. I don't think RAM is an issue as I can easily bump that up to 1GB or more. I'm edging towards a new video card but I have no idea which one to get as I haven't really followed all this techical stuff over the past few years. Does anyone have any suggestions on the video card or the other components.
Video card has to be AGP.

I've got an AGP 6800GT and all settings are set to high on everything with 4X anti-aliasing and 2 GB ddr ram [4 x 512 ]. I know these cards are a lot cheaper than the $700 I paid for it last year. You should be able to buy the card and the ram for less than you want to spend.
Sorry just re read your post. Buy the card Then go and get the ram cause you will need it

His sytem will be AGP, 7600 is only PCIe.
To the original poster, you have big problem because a small ammount of money spent on your computer wont really get you anywhere. Upgrading your CPU would need a new mobo, ram, power supply & grpahics card to go with it. Upgrading just your graphics card wont really help as the rest of your current system would struggle to cope with it. So IMO your only option is to save up some money and do a full system upgrade.

7800gs best you can get for AGP. And it got very good platform for overlocking which makes it's even better card. And it cost about 170-180 £. Don't buy any other card. I bought this card 3 weeks ago and i'm impressed. All new games run with full settings, with no single problem. Card also runs with very low temperatures under 50C. It's your card. GO AND BUY IT! :)
ps. But be sure that your Power is atleast 350W

Well put Teuvo. Don't go any lower than mine and the higher you can afford the better. Get the 7800 one if you can.
AND get that ram
