As I’m sure you are all aware when your in the water and your not standing on the bed of the river/beach of the ocean, you can't attack the enemy.

On Karkand when crossing from the train accident CP to the cement factory, I noticed some amour rolling my way so I swam over to the alcoves either side of the ramp on the close to the cement factory. To my amazement I was confronted by an enemy AT guy just floating there in the water. Now naturally whilst swimming I could do jack, so I spotted him in the vain attempt that someone would see it and shoot him.

My point is why not just give people a knife for combat in water to avoid just treading water and playing chicken. What do you guys thing? Suggestions? Flames? :p

It could be a good idea but i think it is best jsut to leave it the way it is already.

some weapons should be allowed for use in the water as are some in real life.
But not all of them.

Hey, in real life, if u go into the water and the weapon is submerged underwater. The gun's dead. The material to make the fricition is saturated to make heat to cause the gunpowder to explode to give the bullet the kinetic energy to go. (I don't know what i just typed)

You should at least be able to use your knife in the water, maybe your pistol but it would be inaccurate. There isnt much that is cheaper than shooting a guy in the water because the only defense they have is farting.

guns can shoot under water, but there is only special guns that can, oh and ur just making crap up, the bullet cap isn't freaking lit by friction.......wat r you 12?
i heard glocks can........
though the gun can get damaged if there is water in it, like if there was water in the barrel the bullet wont go nwhere and might rupture teh barrel

have u tried swimming with something heavy in ur arms? its pretty hard since u can only use ur legs..but i think only spec ops ppl should be able to have a rifle out but it only comes out when u stop swimming...cuz theyre spec ops

also, guns are heavy and prob dont float

Maybe in Patch 1.4, if they get this and think its good, but if not, I'll be happy with jumping down to people and following them to their destination, then knifing them.

It's my guess. Guesses are always worth it (unless it means your life).

How about the silenced pistols only? (spec ops and sniper)

But they better have some sort of protection for swimming the water with 2142.. i mean.. its 2142.. something HAS to work underwater.

bullets dont travel so far in water and are very unlikely to kill

the resistance the water gives to the fast moving bullet stops it moving in less than 10m with 9mm

with higher caliber rounds they just break up on impact with water

anyone seen the mythbusters epsiode where they tested this?

so knife only would be best :D

We should be able to grab the guy's head and hold it underwater until he drowns... We need no knife!

This is hard to explain fast since I gtg.

But if you have something a inch wide standing up. You fire a 9MM at it and it goes through, so you put it at a 45degree angle. Now what happens when you fire at it now is that it has to go through 2X the amount of armour. What mythbusters did was fire it at a angle effectivly giving the water 2X the amount of resistance.

I say

- Spec Ops get there main gun + silence pistol when in water and not moving
- All other kits get there pistols (silence or not) when not moving.

Also all this talk about underwater what about holding it above your heading and shooting it at his head.

but on mythbusters they where all (exept shotty if i believe) able to fire underwater...and one was able to kill a person

In response to the poll, things should stay as they are. if you think about it, its not gonna be easy to fire a shotgun whilst treading water now is it?

Probably why I called this thread "Knifing when wet" instead of "Shooting a shotgun whilst wet" ;)

A knife would be the most they would be able to do with that because if they gave people full use of their weps in water.. whats the point of staying on land?
