    Default Two New Zombie Maps - Island & Dead Sand

    The mapping community has released two new Nazi zombie maps recently bringing even more custom content to World at War. The first is a map taking place on an island where as the second puts you on a beach. Check it out:

    The zombies have invaded Akushima. How long can you hold them off?

    Dead Sand:
    This map plays flawlessly with lots of twists and turns. There is changing weapon values, increased AI offense and defense, there are a few perks we wont tell you about. The map opens, the landing boats are on the beach, you and you team mates are defending a series of trenches and bunkers. You have at your arsenal, bouncing betties, mounted machine guns, deployable weapons, mortars and a few custom weapons that will be sure to blow your mind. From the trenches you make you way trough a series of mountain side bunkers again with lots of twists and turns. There is a last stand area that will blow your mind. Now back to the AI, you have reinforcements, that you can gain from time to time to help with the onslaught of zombie attackers. There is also the presence of enemy AI who has a large arsenal of weapons also. This will definitely be a map you will remember. Written by Ottawolf from CustomCOD.

    Features:

    • The chests are progressive in cost and old weapons are cycled out as the game level increases.
    • Bouncing Betty mines and 60mm mortar rounds have been added as primary weapons. The ammo count for each of these is the same as grenades, four at a time. When you have two weapons and pickup 60mm Rounds or Bouncing Betties, the current weapon will be “saved”. That is, when you use up the mine or mortar rounds, you get your weapon and ammo you previously had. This is only true for guns. If you have 60mm and pick up Bouncing Betties, you lose the 60mm rounds and you will get a pistol back instead.
    • There are a few custom weapons in the game (don’t ignore a pistol out of the chest, it might be more than you think).
    • Zombies will be faster in the beginning levels due to the terrain distances they have to move. They will also speed up later in a round when there are only a few left.
    • There is both Friendly and Enemy AI with guns. Both types are stationary and are simply designed to add something new to the zombie game. All Enemy AI must be killed to end a level, this means Enemy AI outside will hold up a level ending until it is killed off.
    • There are turreted machine guns in a few key locations.
    • There’s more, go discover it.

    I should really reinstall all my games after reinstalling Vista. Or should I just wait until I upgrade my OS? hmmm.

    OMFG!?!?! Dead Sand is out... I wanted to play gameage tonight, but I thought it would be better to do the work I have...eff it son! I WILL be trying that out tonight!

    Dead Sand really caught my eye. From the pic, I immediately thought "Omaha Beach".

    Looking forward to trying it...eventually. *sigh*

    It is definitely different. I want to play this with a few other guys b/c sp won't cut it. I only went 4 levels and I can tell...this map will own. That wasn't even a percentage of what is to come once I progress further on the map.

    Dead Sand is only good with 4 (non-noob) players. I didn't play 'til I died on SP because I just wanted to play with more people but with 3 people and a stupid noob (who said he was drunk) we got to lvl 12. He kept using his pistol(colt) when we were on lvl 8 or 9 and kept dying. And because I'm nice I always went to try to revive him when I've been trying to kill the climbing zombies. Once he got me killed, we both had to respawn with our teammates at the bottom where we eventually died not being able to get good luck with the mystery box.

    Make sure you watch out for the Panzerschrecks because they snipe perfectly whether you're on the beach or up top if you stand still. If you see one fire while on the beach just run into the tunnel and camp there until the zombies are gone or just snipe them when they spawn with a sniper rifle if you spawned on top.

    Tried solo. I stole the beach CPUs' PPSH early in the game and used that for awhile. I got ray on I think on round 8 when I just decided to try the box. I camped the mounted gun for the whole time and spammed betties all over the beach and between the mounted and the one door in case they tried to come behind me. I eventually got caught up next to a betty and killed myself just as I thought I would lol.

    That's because people aren't reading the readme files (I seem to remember you asking about this in an earlier thread, Recon ). Here's a direct quote from the Zombie Island readme:

    To play the map first go into mods and select zombie island

    SOLO Playing: If you wish to play alone then open console (~) and type "/map nazi_zombie_island".
    (without the " " marks)

    Basically, all the maps work this way. You launch the mod, then use the console to type in the name and launch the map. You can use the /devmap command instead of /map as well, if you want to various other commands like setting your FOV to 80 instead of 65.

    hmmm. prety sure i tried that with dead sand and it didn't work... i will try again. Also i remember seeing a Flak 88 or sum sort of cannon in Dead sand when the round was over. is there a way to get to it??

    EDIT: also the Big ****ing gun 1944 is awsome in dead sand. everyone should try it!
