I just love being in the UK where upload is good if its 1 meg.
If i did buy it, id have no chance of playing seeing as my net is under 1 meg down and last time i checked about 256k up.....![]()

yeesh. can ya at least rent a cod6 server from a game hosting company?
i'm sure there are going to be alot of people setting up servers who have no clue about bandwidth..
i can see it coming... wasting a hole day joining peoples servers that are trying to hold a 16-32 player game w/ 756mb upload or something. what a waste..

Wait, I thought there were IW hosted servers, it was only P2P if it was a custom, so that means it will be ALL P2P???

Now that I'm actually playing the pc MP version of cod6 (MW2) i can say... I don't think this matching system is as bad as people made it out to be... From what i remember when playing previous MP cod versions... the (good running crowded servers) were usually clan servers.. most having "rules" to follow & "ANOYING!!" on screen scrolling messages. i won't miss em..
the way it is now... ya start the MP version... ya say hmmm... i want to play FFA, TDM etc...
ya click find game->TDM, & boom your usually in a decent running server in 30 secs w/ 12 players ready to go. if ya lag... ya click find game->TDM, & boom your in another TDM server in 30 secs w/ 12 players ready to go... (pretty cool) i definitely would like to have a 32-64 player server. but believe it or not... even the 8 player max for ffa seems to work well. I definitely had fun.... The way i see it is... It's just a start. maybe soon they will have 64 player servers.
Again... i seriously don't think i'll miss the clan owned & run server with a handful of cheating members telling ya your a noob when ya say something about it..
If clans want to get together,.. they do their buddy thing in left field. servers are picked randomly & so far it seems to work well for me. although i would like to join a server only hosting a certain map that i like but thats not possible... so... i give it 1 up 1 down..
PS: i still have no clue who's hosting the servers. i actually tried asking in a few iv'e played in so far.. "Is there a host in here? is someone running this server???" not a response aside from "nope" lol

well... i can't get why nobody ever says "yep" "i'm running the server" when i ask.
im surprised that it's strictly p2p. "yes" some of the servers were terrible lag. but some ran great, & fairly easy to find a good one, cause ya literally have to do nothing. ya don't have to check for ping, or look for servers loaded with players, the system does it... all ya need to do is click [find game] & [gametype] your on your way into another server full w/ players in seconds. (not to shabby)

I'd rather check for ping, myself. I've NEVER accidentally clicked a 300+ ping server. IWNet does, though. It seems like ping is the least weighted factor in matchmaking. Rank seems to be more of a factor until the game starts. Most rounds start with everyone being fairly close in rank, but you get some variance after some people leave and new people are just thrown in to fill up the game.
Dedicated servers + server browser + filters > rolling bones (IWNet)
ya. i just read that review. i guess i'm in a good area. plus i have 5mbps dl 2mbps upload. it seems players not in usa, or with slower connections have troubles. so far I've only experienced a few laggy servers, & was easily able to get out & find another better running server. didn't at all feel like this is a waste of time.. it's a new experience & it worked well for me. im sure there are plenty of bugs in the system that will get ironed out with patches, like they always do...(just guessing)

That's the funny thing. I'm in Indianapolis, IN. A state capital and the 14th largest city in the US. My net isn't that bad:
So it's not that my internet connection is bad. And the people I get matched with probably have decent connections, too. But when I'm in the Midwest and they're in Eastern Europe, there will be lag. And that is something only IW can fix by making IWNet better at actually looking for connections with a lower ping.
Getting out and finding a new "server" sounds like a good idea, but it's a horrible solution. A) You rack up a loss every time you do it. B) Since you have no control over where you go next, there is an even chance you'll be right back in a laggy room.
