Re: Activision Not Overly Concerned About Dedicated Servers

I'm glad they removed "Call of Duty" from the title. This doesn't live up to those standards.

But lets face facts. Activision doesn't think PC gamers are relevant.

Cry me a river and say they think we're idiots. They don't. They know exactly where we are coming from. We bought the clothes they wore a decade ago. But the market has changed because the PC world/market is so dam complicated for the average gamer and no one has stepped up to fix it.

So consoles got huge and now we are irrelevant. For gods sake people, haven't you ever wondered why most games don't run on a MAC? It's because Apple made macs mostly irrelevant to the gaming industry until VERY recently. And it is turning out to be too little too late. Ports to macs are slowing in timing and existence.

They're called "PC Games" for a reason. Apple screwed up in the mid-late nineties when PC gaming was at its greatest. And remember - Apple GUI was around before windows.

Well we did the same dam thing. Blame yourselves and the people who made your video card.

It's funny because when you're comparing the pros and cons of PC versus consoles, one of the biggest arguments for PC is how much better the online multiplayer is, which is due to all the things that IW has removed from MW2.

Just how bad does it need to get before they do take action?

Doesn't matter how bad it gets, I don't think they will...

Im a PC gamer but really, why should we get any privileges?
There are two sorts of PC gamers, casual and stupid. The latter thinks canceling his preorder will make a difference to infinityward or Activision. Basically what they have said there is, "if you dont want to buy it and you dont like the idea, then tuff ****" Im of the same opinion, and I know that in reality most people will buy it. Im all for it now I think about it, mostly just to piss off the cry babies.

Re: Activision Not Overly Concerned About Dedicated Servers

They are playing the odds that the PC crowd is bluffing. They have a solid product otherwise with a huge amount of hype behind it and believe that once the thing ships PC sales will see a spike from all those that cancelled their pre-order. That is why he mentions putting their money where their mouth is because they simply do not believe enough PC players really care. After all every single pre-order could be canceled but still we all buy the game the day it comes out.

My bet is a lot of those that canceled will go out and get it release day but still a sizeable amount will hold true to their cancels. Will it be enough to sway IW or Activision?

I really doubt it. The arrogance out of them over the last several months has been shocking. It is hard to believe these are the people who made the previous games we have all loved so much and supported. Especially considering without PC there would be no francise to make since CoD got its start on the PC and developed a very loyal and dedicated following. With the attitudes we are seeing from them I expect that if the PC does bad for them that they will either be very slow with support or drop it all together and then restrict future titles to be console only.

I don't think they are the same developers as Modern Warfare 1

Re: Activision Not Overly Concerned About Dedicated Servers

I really like the launch trailer but the fact that dedicated server support is out the window for IWNet is horrible. This will have a huge impact on recruitment for clans.

The gameplay looks awesome we had to admit but because they've taking out all the nifty perks to the game it just gets worse.

It stays a bunch of console gaming developers just haven't PC gamed or they failed at it.

Most people will buy it. Then again, most people don't realize what a mess the game is.

Well the reason platforms sales are better compared to Pc is blockbuster ,it there was not rental places there reallly wouldnt be that much of a diffrence.
I really hope most stay true to there word and dont get this game until the fix it for Pc players, yes i say fix for the reason its not a game that works for most true pc gamers
